Vital Impacts Remembering Sudan Website
For this role I worked with the non-profit Vital Impacts, started by National Geographic photographer Amy Vitale, to create the website section for the film Remembering Sudan and Support Ol Pejeta. The site and film honor the life of the last male white rhino Sudan while advocating for the Ol Pejeta Conservancy through donations, print sales, and rhino adoptions. I created the wireframes and content hierarchy, following by executing the pages were using the existing brand system and Shopify templates on the website.
The project combines UIUX design and user experience research/ thinking to provide a fully functioning website on the greater Vital Impacts site to bring a concrete difference.

As the user continues, they begin to understand even deeper the ‘What’ and the ‘Who’ fully in order to understand where any donation or revenue will go toward supporting. It is also interwoven with quotes from those involved who are directly impacted by this organization. The combination of informing the user and using emotion aids in gaining people to join in support.
Project Background
-
The film Remembering Sudan focuses on the heartbreaking crisis facing the white rhinos and their keepers who sacrifice so much for them. The proceeds from the film go directly towards the BioRescue project. If they are able to remove the white rhinos from the brink of extinction, it will serve as hope for other endangered species. This website pushes the film to an audience that will resonate with the cause and act. The sales from the film, prints, and the greater understanding of this crisis serve as the underlying narrative of this project.

Throughout the creation of these pages, I focused on centering around the crisis facing the white rhinos and how to push toward the solution. Each page tells the story of the lost rhino Sudan and the push to raise funds and awareness of their risk of extinction. Through rounds of revisions of wire framing, I continued to focus on how to tell a story that promotes action. Balancing between a need for factual understanding alongside pushing for emotional appeal, the story of the white rhinos and Ol Pejeta Conservancy comes to life.

Understanding the depth of the white rhinos, Ol Pejeta, and Vital Impacts drove the success of telling this story through these website pages. Research consisted of interviewing with the Vital Impacts team including their founders and design experts, watching the film Remembering Sudan countless times, and understanding other successful projects to serve as inspiration. The storytelling is only successful if the urgency and calls to action display throughout, and I obtained a deep understanding of all parties involved to create this. From those on the conservancy, those working with the BioRescue, and the Vital Impacts team I understood the depth of the story before ever opening a Figma file to ensure the story comes to life on their site.
Home Remembering Sudan
The Home page is finished up with a final call to action, or ‘How,’ to allow viewers to once again get involved in aiding the organization and cause to save the white rhinos. It also allows viewers ways to get involved and stay updated with the successes of the project.
Home Remembering Sudan
The Home page is finished up with a final call out explaining the people behind the project and the depth in reach it brings. The film and those apart of it received a myriad of different awards and credits. The page ends aiding people in access to stay updated and involved in the cause.
Support Ol Pejeta
The support Ol Pejeta page provides concrete ways that people can support the conservancy through clever financial ways that are not simply donating money. We created these tiers of support based on the rhinos that make Ol Pejeta what it is. It adds personality that represents the importance of saving the white rhinos.
Support Ol Pejeta
This section allows supporters and viewers to directly see why Vital Impacts is raising money for the conservancy. It provides a deep insight into each rhino that the conservancy supports and the resources they need.
Support Ol Pejeta
The final section of this page provides an honest conclusion from two of the main people bringing this project to life. Without the support of people, the project would not be.
