The Bookshelf Website Design
For this role, I created a full website prototype for the company The Bookshelf. The Bookshelf is a reading collaboration site for users to come together to chat in channels, maintain books read and books to be read, generate personalized reads and stay up to date on events. I created the branding and overall website design prototype. I took inspiration from my favorite places to read and communicate about my favorite books and made a singular place to find all of it with a strong UI design to engage and entertain readers from across the world. My audience was people like me who love reading and enjoy sharing this passion with others.
The project combines UIUX design and prototyping in Figma, branding, and user experience research.
Inspiration
I created the bookshelf from a combination of my passions reading and design. One of the best parts of reading is finding a community of others to share it with. These communities are popping up in different forms across apps, social media, and in person book clubs. Goodreads holds the current top spot, but it doesn’t provide a strongly designed easy experience. I took the opportunity to recreate a community platform that brings the fun creativity and honesty of TikTok’s BookTok to life in this online experience.
